MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has formally requested the federal government for the provision of a helicopter in connection with the arrangements for the general election 2026.
According to sources, the commission has written a letter to the Cabinet Division, seeking helicopter services to ensure the timely transportation of polling materials, election staff, and other essential arrangements in remote and sensitive areas during the election process.
Sources said that helicopter services are needed for constituencies, including Neelum Valley, Leepa, Jhelum Valley, Haveli, Bagh, and other inaccessible regions where road transport may be difficult or time-consuming.
The Commission has requested the concerned federal authorities to provide the required air facility as soon as possible to ensure the peaceful, transparent, and timely conduct of the general elections.
