NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): In light of the current border tensions, the Neelum Police have issued an important public advisory to ensure the safety and security of residents, particularly in areas close to the Line of Control (LoC). According to the Neelum Police, any suspicious person or object spotted in the area must be immediately reported to the nearest police station. Residents have been asked not to shelter any strangers or outsiders in their villages or seasonal settlements (Dhoks) and to prevent their livestock from wandering close to the zero line along the LoC.
The advisory urges everyone to report any suspicious drone or quadcopter sightings immediately. If you come across anything unusual, like toy-like items, unattended bags, or packages, don’t touch them. Just alert the police right away.
With the current security alert, the Neelum Police have stepped up checks at all key locations, including entry points, bridges, hotels, inns, and residential areas. They’re asking for the public’s patience and full cooperation during these measures.
People are also being reminded not to fall for or spread rumours and fake news. It’s important to stay informed, but only through trusted and verified sources. Any individuals involved in illegal border crossings or drug smuggling must also be reported immediately.
The Neelum Police have placed strict surveillance on border crossers and have activated all Village Defence Committees across the district. Their goal is to work closely with the public to foil any terrorist or sabotage activities before they can cause harm.
