ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Rangers on Thursday detained an Indian Border Security Force (BSF) soldier in Punjab, Indian media reported.
According to the source, an Indian BSF soldier crossed the Zero Line and entered Pakistani territory for about 30 meters.
India Today, citing army sources, claimed a Border Security Force soldier was arrested after accidentally crossing the international border in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector.
Sources reported that B Company of Pakistan Rangers apprehended the Indian soldier, identified as Constable P.K. Singh, and seized arms and other military gear.
One G2 rifle, three magazines with 60 rounds, one water bottle, two mosquito repellents (agarbattis), one torch, one walkie-talkie set, one lighter, and one cloth bag were seized from the BSF personnel.
Singh, belonging to the 182nd BSF Battalion, was shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Another Indian media outlet, Times of India, reported that officials from both sides have initiated contact, and flag meetings are being held to facilitate his early release.
“The matter is being taken up with Pakistani counterparts at all levels to ensure the jawan’s safe and prompt return,” a BSF spokesperson said.
