MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a devastating incident, the lightning struck a herd of goats, killing over 60 goats worth millions of rupees in the Kabirwali Gali area of Pir Chinasi, Muzaffarabad.
The incident happened on Sunday at 2 pm when the goat farmers were seeking shelter from the rain inside a house.
The lightning struck a house where the goats were taking shelter, resulting in the deaths of more than 60 goats belonging to several farmers. One person, identified as Naseer, faced minor injuries in the incident.
The estimated loss is over two million rupees. The goats belonged to Mehboob, Mehrdin Baz Muhammad, Safir, and Akbar Din.
The public, civil society, and local government representatives have demanded that the Prime Minister, Chief Secretary, and District Administration compensate the affected goat farmers for their losses.
