MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmirs (AJK), Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, has expressed strong appreciation for Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s bold stance on Kashmir issue.

Speaking during a televised interview with a private news channel, the AJK premier stated that the Army Chief Asim Munir’s bold stance on Kashmir has dispelled ambiguities following India’s unilateral action on August 5, 2019.

He noted that Gen. Munir had firmly stated Pakistan’s unwavering resolve, citing that the country had already fought three wars over Kashmir and would not hesitate to fight more if necessary. “With such clarity, there is no space left for despair,” he said, stressing that failing to acknowledge the Army’s contributions would be nothing short of hypocrisy.

He praised the indomitable spirit of the Kashmiri people, describing their sacrifices as a defining chapter in the region’s ongoing struggle for freedom. He also credited Pakistan’s consistent support, stating that without Islamabad’s backing, the situation in Kashmir could have mirrored the devastation seen in Gaza.

Discussing domestic governance, the Prime Minister highlighted the challenges inherited by his administration, particularly the strong grip of various mafias. He emphasized that his government had effectively tackled these entrenched interests.

Among the achievements under his leadership, he pointed out the operationalization of the Muzaffarabad Cardiac Hospital soon after taking office. He added that the Mirpur Cardiac Hospital was also made functional, and the budget for medicines had been doubled to ensure free medical supplies at public health institutions.

The Azad Kashmirs premier invited journalists from across Pakistan to visit Azad Kashmir and independently assess his government’s performance. Despite a financial shortfall of Rs71 billion, he said the region’s governance system remains intact and self-sustained.

He noted ongoing reforms aimed at public welfare, including efforts to tighten tax collection, eliminate the timber mafia, and shut down unauthorized tea production units. He stated that anti-corruption initiatives have saved billions in public funds.

Describing Azad Kashmir as the base camp of the freedom struggle, the PM reiterated that extending full support to the Kashmir cause is a national responsibility, applauding Asim Munir’s bold stance on Kashmir again.

Citing the UN Charter, he emphasized that when a UN member violates human rights and wages war against another, the affected nation has the legal right to use force in self-defense.

He issued a stern warning that if India continues its oppression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the youth of Azad Kashmir would not shy away from crossing the Line of Control.

Reflecting on the state of affairs at the time he assumed office, he recalled that there were widespread demands for affordable electricity and flour. His administration, he said, curtailed unnecessary expenditures and boosted revenue to lighten the financial load on the people while ensuring cheaper power and flour availability.

Furthermore, he highlighted the payment of Rs12 billion in liabilities and the allocation of Rs4 billion to elevate the Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to the status of a scheduled bank.

Asim Munir’s bold stance on Kashmir has also been applauded by locals, stating that it has given them a new hope and courage.
