LAHORE (Kashmir English): In a bid to facilitate car and motorcycle owners, the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government is set to launch the online vehicle registration system.
Following the orders of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, preparations for starting the Motor Vehicle Online Registration System under the leadership of Chairman Central Board of Revenue (CBR) Chaudhry Rakib have entered the final stage.
Deputy Commissioner Excise Mirpur Circle Ali Asghar Bukhari visited the Punjab IT Board Headquarters in Arfa Karim Tower, Lahore to brief on the online data center and database system.
The Project Charge of the Punjab IT Board gave a detailed briefing to Deputy Commissioner Excise Mirpur Circle Ali Asghar Bukhari regarding online vehicle registration, token tax, and payment.
He also visited the Punjab IT Board’s data center, where he was briefed on vehicle registration and token tax data security.
On the instructions of the Central Board of Revenue Azad Kashmir, the Inland Revenue Department officials are formulating a strategy to make online registration of vehicles and payment of token tax online in Azad Kashmir as well, after which vehicle owners in Azad Kashmir will be able to register their vehicles and pay token tax online while sitting at home.
In this regard, last week, a delegation of the Punjab IT Board also met with Commissioner Inland Revenue South Syed Ansar Ali at Kashmir House regarding online registration of vehicles, while a delegation of the Punjab IT Board will soon visit the Inland Revenue Department Circle in Mirpur and review the arrangements of the Inland Revenue Department for the latest project of the future.
On the instructions of Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, the Central Board of Revenue and the Inland Revenue Department have taken steps to increase tax revenue in Azad Kashmir, including making the tax system online.
In addition to the recent installation of POS systems on brands, steps are being taken to sign a data integration system agreement with the FBR to protect owners of large industries from paying double taxes and to make sales tax returns online, while an online app for the POS system will also be launched soon.
