Fresh price list released in Muzaffarabad, vendors to provide receipts on demand

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The district administration of Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has issued updated price lists for chicken, eggs, vegetables, and fruits. Strict instructions have been given to provide relief to the public, and an indication has been made of immediate action against those charging higher prices. The administration has made it clear that shopkeepers must strictly adhere to the official price list; otherwise, they should be prepared for heavy fines and legal action.

According to the issued price list, live broiler chicken is priced at Rs510 per kilogram, while breeder chicken meat will be available at Rs540 per kilogram. Desi (local) chicken will be sold at Rs1050 per kilogram, and golden chicken at Rs850 per kilogram. There has been no change in egg prices: eggs weighing 40 to 50 grams will be sold at Rs275 per dozen, and those weighing 51 to 65 grams at Rs295 per dozen.

There has been a slight change in vegetable prices. Grade 1 potatoes are set at Rs70 per kilogram, and grade 2 at Rs60. Garlic imported from China is priced at Rs650 per kilogram. Onions are Rs70, tomatoes Rs80, cauliflower Rs40, bitter gourd Rs300, pumpkin Rs60, lemons Rs200, spinach Rs35, radish Rs30, carrots Rs50, peas Rs140, and cucumber Rs70 per kilogram.

Fruit prices have also been adjusted. White apples are set at Rs230, white gola apples at Rs140, black apples at Rs260, and Iranian apples at Rs400 per kilogram. Bananas are priced at Rs280 per dozen, and kinnows (a type of mandarin orange) are Rs410 for four dozen. Blood oranges are Rs350, Punjab guavas Rs 190, pomegranates Rs550, yellow melons Rs150, and strawberries Rs300 per kilogram.

The administration has strictly directed all shopkeepers and vendors to sell items at the prescribed prices to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience. Additionally, it is mandatory to provide a receipt upon the customer’s request.

The district administration has appealed to the public to immediately report to the concerned authorities if any shopkeeper charges more than the fixed prices.
