KARACHI (Kashmir English): Bestway Group has launched the Chinese firm Geely Auto Group in the Pakistani market, unveiling three new energy vehicles: the Geely EX2 (a compact electric hatchback), the Geely EX5 (an electric SUV), and the Geely Starray EM-i (a plug-in hybrid SUV).
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Irfan Muhammad Sheikh, Managing Director of Bestway Group, stated that Bestway Automotive is the sole authorized distributor for Geely in Pakistan.
According to the group, this launch marks its entry into the automotive sector, serving as a strategic expansion of Bestway’s long-term investment portfolio in the country.
“New Energy Vehicles” (NEVs) are alternative-fuel vehicles that rely primarily or entirely on electric power, rather than a traditional internal combustion engine.
The company will initially launch with imported units, while simultaneously preparing its 24.71-acre facility at Port Qasim, Karachi, for “Completely Knocked Down” (CKD) assembly.
The plant features over 403,000 square feet of covered space and currently has an annual assembly capacity of 25,000 vehicles. Bestway aims to have locally assembled Geely vehicles on the road by next year.
Regarding ownership, Bestway has announced plans for a nationwide dealership network, a vehicle warranty of 6 years or 150,000 kilometers (along with an 8-year warranty for the battery and motor), online booking, financing options through UBL, and a nationwide EV charging network via Bestway Renewable Technologies.
Bestway Cement currently operates a 115 MW captive solar power capacity.
According to the statement, pricing, booking dates, and final details will be announced through official channels.
Car sales in Pakistan increased by 43% year-on-year during the first quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year; analysts attribute this growth to an improving macroeconomic environment, which has boosted the demand for vehicles.
