BHIMBER (Kashmir English): Police in Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, arrested a couple for gold theft, from Sialkot at Hazari checkpoint. The thieves stole gold worth over 4 million rupees from a Barnala jewellery shop and attempted to flee.
A gold theft worth over Rs4 million was thwarted in the Barnala tehsil of Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Authorities arrested the culprits at the Hazari checkpoint before they could flee the region.
According to details, a man and a woman entered a gold shop in the Barnala market under the guise of customers. They requested the shopkeeper to show them gold items. As soon as the shopkeeper placed the gold on the counter for inspection, the two individuals swiftly grabbed it and ran for it.
The shopkeeper activated his alarm to draw others into the situation including store owners and persons walking by. The traffic in-charge Sabir Hussain Mehr who conducted duties in the city warned all local security checkpoints upon observing the incident. The suspects made an unsuccessful attempt to flee through Azad Kashmir toward the borders. The individuals were stopped by security personnel at the Hazari checkpoint before being able to escape the area.
Law enforcement officers acquired the stolen gold valued at more than 4 million rupees after making the arrest. The arrestees share a marital relationship and come from Sialkot District in Punjab as documented residents.
The police station of Barnala assumed custody of the couple after their detention. Due to law enforcement’s quick action, they were able to successfully protect the shopkeeper from major financial harm while capturing the offenders responsible.
