MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq on Wednesday announced a Rs1 billion grant to strengthen AJK Police while warning that India is using fifth-generation warfare tactics to spread unrest among the youth.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has warned that India is using fifth-generation warfare tactics to create unrest in the region by misleading and manipulating the youth.

Speaking at the passing-out parade ceremony of the 60th Recruit Course of the AJK Police in the state capital, he accused the enemy of attempting to spread confusion and instability through disinformation campaigns. “Our enemy cannot even dare to cast an evil eye on our country, but it is actively working to incite disorder and anarchy,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasised that while dialogue and reason were the most civilised ways to resolve conflicts, any attempt to challenge the authority of the state would be dealt with according to the law.

Prime Minister Haq acknowledged the law enforcement role of the police force so he provided Rs1 billion for professional capabilities enhancement. He also acknowledged the police force and those officers who died while serving their duty for maintaining peace.

He commended the force for exercising restraint and handling protests in May and December last year with wisdom and professionalism. Assuring full government support, he said resources would be provided to the police to enhance their operations. While Rs4 billion was required for comprehensive police reforms, an initial Rs1 billion would be allocated in the current fiscal year.

As a praiseworthy step, PM Haq also praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for creating the Anti-Riot Force. He turned his focus to the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, denouncing the persistent abuses of human rights there and warning that the Indian government would suffer grave repercussions if it did not stop its repression of Kashmiris.

He reiterated that the people of AJK were solidly in support of their guardians and emphasised the clear distinction between an occupying military and a defensive army. He reaffirmed his dedication to public welfare and promised that tax money and government resources will only be used for the good of the populace.
