SUDHNOTI: The struggle for the citizens living in the areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Battal sector continues. The citizens, affected by the shelling of the Indian army in Sudhnoti, are deprived of basic facilities.
The living Pir Narota footbridge, which was installed on the Poonch River with the cooperation of the Pakistan Army, was destroyed in the 2014 floods. However, the governments have not been able to rebuild the footbridge, which was a convenience for a large part of the population.
Around thousands of residents of the Mandhole Union Council have been facing difficulties to cross the river. Residents use cable car [doli] or a floating cart with the help of tyres and ropes [Talla] to cross the river.
Taking to Kashmir Digital, the residents complained that they complete minutes-long journeys in hours. “Businesses have been severely affected due to the lack of movement across the Poonch River.”
Residents have demanded the construction of Narota Mandhole bridge on the Poonch River to provide convenience to the local population.
