RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir police have assured all those returning homes after abandoning the protest at Rawalakot of complete protection, security and a lenient view against warnings by JAAC that they will be arrested on the way.
According to AJK police, they have decided to provide complete protection and facilitate young people returning home after ending their protest.
The police said young people, disillusioned by the attitudes of the Joint Public Action Committee, wish to return home, however, they added, the banned JAAC has started intimidating young people who leave the protest.
According to police spokesperson, some young people from Bhimber, Mirpur, and other districts, who had arrived in Rawalakot along with various rallies under the call for a long march initiated by the Joint Public Action Committee on June 9, 2026, are now willing to abandon the protest.
They were fed up by the alleged criminal role and terrorist ideology of the Public Action Committee and wish to abandon the protest and return to their homes.
The statement further said that some individuals associated with the Public Action Committee and through social media accounts are intimidating these young people, warning them that if they abandon the protest, the police and Rangers will arrest them or shoot them on the way.
Baseless rumours by JAAC
The spokesperson declared these reports to be absolutely false and baseless rumors spread by the proscribed Public Action Committee.
The spokesperson for Azad Kashmir Police clarified that the young people from Bhimber, Mirpur, and other districts who are currently in Rawalakot and wish to return to their homes are respected citizens for them.
“The police are establishing Facilitation Centres in Rawalakot for their safe return, where young people can contact and easily return to their homes without any hindrance.”
