MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur on Friday postponed the upcoming annual examination across the state for an indefinite period.
In two separate circulars, the education board said that the Intermediate first annual exam and the SSC Practical 1st annual exam scheduled for June 8, 2026, have been postponed.
The postponement of exams came due to a possible shutdown strike called by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Azad Kashmir from June 9.
The board officials said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing situation and concerns regarding the smooth conduct of examinations.
The exams will remain suspended until further notice, while revised dates will be announced later.
Moreover, all government and private hostels, student residences, and boarding institutions are directed to close/vacate before 12:00 pm on June 7, 2026, in Mirpur until further notice.
The district administration has directed hostel owners to ensure that the residents are sent to safe places or their homes during the said period and are not allowed to stay in the hostels.
All the magistrates, including the Assistant Commissioners, Mirpur District Police Officers, and the concerned departments, will ensure compliance with this order.
In case of violation of this order by any institution or person, action will be taken under the relevant laws, which may result in cancellation of the registration of the hostel.
