LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan Cricket Board scorer Najam-ul-Saeed passed away on Friday, according to family sources.
His son, Muhammad Shahzaib, confirmed that Najam-ul-Saeed suffered a heart attack, which proved fatal. He had been serving as a scorer in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in recent years and was also a senior scorer with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Najam-ul-Saeed had a long association with cricket scoring and had officiated in international matches including Tests, One-Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals over a significant period.
His death has been widely mourned in cricket circles, with tributes expected from colleagues and officials associated with Pakistan cricket.
16-member Pakistan ODI squad unveiled for Australia series
The National Men’s Selection Committee has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled to be played from May 30 to June 4 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to lead the side, while Salman Ali Agha has been named vice-captain.
Three players, Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, and Rohail Nazir, have earned selection despite not yet making their ODI debut for Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, and Sufyan Moqim return to the Pakistan ODI squad after missing the away series against Bangladesh earlier this year.
For the wicketkeeping role, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir have been selected after Usman Khan was ruled out due to illness.
The selection committee also confirmed that Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub were not considered, as both continue rehabilitation under the PCB medical panel following injuries.
The squad will assemble in Islamabad and begin preparations under the coaching staff on May 23. Australia’s team is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad on May 23 and will train at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium ahead of the series.
