MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister (PM) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Anwarul Haq is living in a fantasy world as he has least of the understanding of the ground situation, especially when it comes to eliminating corruption in the State departments.
This was stated by political expert Ghulamullah Awan Advocate. He was responding to a question as if the Prime Minister was right in his claims that he has eliminated corruption in the state institutions, in a podcast with Kashmir Digital.
PM’s claims
Taking a jibe at PM Anwarul Haq’s claims that there was no corruption in the state departments, Awan, who has a keen eye on the political affairs in the State, said corruption was rampant let it be the office of a patwari or a minister.
He said it was impossible even to get a file moved without having the officials bribed. “In his speeches, PM says he has eliminated corruption… he lives in a fantasy world. The biggest corruption is what he had started with. He has 32 flag-holders to run the state affairs of Azad Kashmir which is literally smaller in area of Rawalpindi division which is run by a commissioner,” he said.
All these portfolios are meant to prolong his [Haq’s] rule, Awan said and added that the Legislative Assembly only legislates on how to increase the perks and privileges of the lawmakers.
“Poor man is suffering… government employees even have been facing financial hardships. They are on the streets to demand increase in their salaries but every time it’s the government functionaries who are favoured,” he said further.
Ghulamullah Advocate said that one can find the whole AJK government lounging in the Kashmir House. To a question, he said they would be present in the Kashmir House because they came into power to enjoy their status and not to serve the people.
He said that the government functionaries never highlighted Kashmir issue while on foreign tours rather, he alleged, they used to visit night clubs.
The political expert also thrashed PML-N and PPP for supporting the incumbent set up in the AJK. He said these parties have vested interests and added they would never withdraw their support to the government. He opined that under the circumstances, Awami Action Committee would give a surprise to the political parties.
