MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday moved the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) against the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government over the violation of the election code of conduct.

PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir has submitted a written complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) against the government for the issuance of the education package and announcement of development projects before the general elections 2026.

The petitioner has contended that such announcements after the 120-day election plan are tantamount to premature election rigging and their purpose is to influence the electoral process.

This falls under the category of violation of the election code of conduct and constitutional requirements.

In his petition, he has requested the Chief Election Commissioner to immediately stop the government from announcing development projects, implementing new schemes, and education packages so as to ensure the holding of transparent, impartial, and fair elections.

According to sources, the written application filed by the PML-N has been received by the Chief Election Commissioner, while a hearing on this matter is expected in the next few days.

This development is being described in political circles as an important development in the context of the upcoming elections, which may have potential impacts on the electoral environment.

It should be remembered that the announcements of education packages and various development projects by the Azad Kashmir government in recent days have become a topic of discussion in political and public circles, while the PML-N has formally raised this issue in the Election Commission and sparked a new debate on the transparency of the electoral process.
