MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has increased the monthly stipend of the Qaris serving under the Tajweed-ul-Quran Trust by Rs 6,000.
A formal notification has been issued. According to a notification issued by the Department of Ushr, Zakat, Social Welfare, Women Development, and Religious Endowments, this increase aims to improve the financial support of the Qaris serving religious services and to encourage them.
According to the notification, the monthly honorarium of the Qaris has been increased from Rs 24,000 to Rs 30,000.
Of this increase, Rs 6,000 will be borne by the Tajweed-ul-Quran Trust itself, while Rs 4,000 will be provided by the relevant local committee. The total increase will be met under the joint responsibility of various institutions.
According to the department, this decision has been taken in recognition of the services of the reciters engaged in the promotion of religious education and teaching the Holy Quran in mosques and religious institutions.
Officials say that Qaris play a fundamental role in the promotion of spiritual education and religious values in society, which is why it is imperative to improve their financial support.
