ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The current geopolitical situation and supply chain issues have caused pistachio prices to reach their highest point in eight years.
The top producer of pistachios in the world, which includes Iran, faces export difficulties because of multiple factors that include sanctions, irregular harvests, and changing production patterns.
The country faces challenges that prevent it from satisfying total world demand, which has resulted in decreased supply availability. Pistachio consumption has increased across the globe because food manufacturers use the nut widely in their production of chocolates and premium desserts, ice creams, and packaged snacks.
The strong demand for products has resulted in increased pressure on prices. Market analysts observe that key agricultural supply chains face instability because geopolitical uncertainty has already affected essential commodities, which include wheat, fertilizers, and energy inputs.
The pistachio market now joins other agro-products that show increased price fluctuations. Iranian exports control global markets together with American and Turkish suppliers because interruptions from any of these three countries result in major price movements across the worldwide market.
Analysts expect high pistachio prices to continue throughout the upcoming months because production conditions must improve and trade operations must reach stable levels.
The ongoing regional situation will disrupt global supply chains, which will result in higher prices for consumers around the world.
