PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s biggest digital media platform, Pakhtun Digital’s Editor Kashifuddin Syed, has made it clear that his media outlet will never compromise on freedom of expression and journalistic principles.
While talking to private TV ARY News, the journalist has made it clear that his organization will never compromise on freedom of expression and journalistic principles.
His statement came in response to the defamation notice of Rs 50 million sent by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s brother, Amir Afridi, to Pakhtun Digital and its journalist, which the organization has rejected as baseless.
Kashifuddin said that Pakhtun Digital has reported all the news based on authentic tweets and video clips of journalists, and bringing facts to light in the public interest is the basic duty of journalism.
On the other hand, the text of the notice sent by Amir Afridi raises the question of why tweets, analyses, and comments of senior journalists are being run from the organization’s platform.
Kashifuddin, while standing by his stance, said that Pakhtun Digital will continue to raise the voice of truth and justice despite all kinds of pressure and is ready to face any legal challenge.
After receiving a legal notice, Pakhtun Digital clarified that the organization’s job is only to convey news to the public, and not to hurt the feelings of any individual or organization.
According to details, the legal notice was issued on March 27, 2026, in which Pakhtun Digital’s editor and journalist Kashifuddin Syed was addressed.
The notice states that the channel aired allegations against Amir Afridi of illegal activities, embezzlement of public funds, and taking commissions in development projects, while also claiming that his name was linked to corruption by linking him with Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
