MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Deputy Commissioner Mirpur, Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan has imposed a ban under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code on illegal and unlawful occupation of government lands.
The ban prohibits construction on government land including Khalsa land, common land, public utility land, WAPDA land, Canal Department land, Industries Department land, MDHA land, and forest land, etc within the limits of Mirpur district.
Illegal occupation of state land in Mirpur
The trend of encroachment on Khalsa government land was increasing day by day, leading to daily disputes which are also disturbing public peace. In view of all these, it was necessary to impose a ban.
According to the notification, no person/persons shall construct by illegally and unlawfully cutting down land within the district limits, including Khalsa land, common land, public utility land, WAPDA land, Canal Department land, Industries Department land, MDHA land, and forest land, etc.
If any person is found violating this order or instigating its violation, action will be taken against him under Section 188 of the Azad Penal Code, which may result in imprisonment or a fine or both.
This ban will remain in force for two months from the date of issuance.
It should be noted that encroachments on government land are common throughout Azad Kashmir, and land is encroached upon with the connivance of administrative officials.
