Rain in Muzaffarabad, surrounding areas turn weather pleasant

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Light rainfall has started in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, and other areas in Azad Kashmir, bringing the much-needed pleasant weather during the holy month of Ramadan.

Rain has brought back the cold weather in the upper areas. Rain is likely to continue intermittently, according to the Meteorological Department

Meanwhile, snowfall on the mountains of Neelum Valley has increased the cold weather in the region.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a forecast for other parts of the country in the next 24 hours. The weather in Azad Kashmir will remain partly cloudy, with rain expected in some areas from March 09 to 11.

In a weather forecast issued on March 5, the PMD stated, “Rain-wind-thunderstorm predicted in northern areas on 06th & 07th and from 09th to 11th March.”

“Partly cloudy to cloudy weather conditions with the chances of light to moderate rain, wind, thunderstorm in the districts of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kurum, Khyber, Mohmand, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Malakand, and in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from March 09 to 11 with occasional gaps.”

The light to moderate rain is also expected in Islamabad, Pothohar region, Murree, Galliyat, and surroundings on March 10 and 11, the Met office stated.

The weather will remain dry and hot during the day in most parts of Punjab; however, light rain is likely in Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, and Galiyat at night. The weather is predicted to remain dry and hot in most districts of Sindh and Balochistan.

The Meteorological Department has also issued a weather outlook for the next three months, according to which rainfall is likely to be above normal in the central and western regions of the country, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, central Punjab, and northern Balochistan during March to May.

Due to the increasing effects of westerly winds, rainfall is expected to increase in the spring season, while rainfall in the southern areas of Sindh and Balochistan will remain normal.
