MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Religious Affairs Department of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has announced Fitrana and Fidya rates for Ramazan 2026 (1447 AH).
According to a press release issued by Director Religious Affairs Syed Wajahat Hussain Gardezi, the minimum amount of Fitrana has been fixed at Rs 300 per person in consultation with the Grand Muftis.
According to the Religious Affairs Department, Sadaqah-ul-Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim who is a Muslim and on behalf of his minor children. The recommended time for its payment is before the Eid prayer; however, in case of delay due to some reason, it can be paid even after the Eid prayer.
The press release has clarified that if someone has fifty-two and a half tolas of silver, seven and a half tolas of gold or its equivalent in trade goods or cash, then he is a Muslim and it is obligatory to pay Fitrana on him.
Fitrana and Fidya rates
The details of Fitrana and Fidyah for 30 days for different commodities are as follows:
- Wheat: Fitrana is Rs. 300 for 2 kg of wheat, while Fidyah for 30 days has been fixed at Rs. 9000.
- Barley: Fitrana is Rs. 1100 for 3.5 kg of barley, and Fidyah for 30 days will be Rs. 33000.
- Dates: Fitrana is Rs. 1600 for 3.5 kg of dates, while Fidyah for 30 days has been fixed at Rs. 48000.
- Raisins: The Fitrana has been fixed at Rs 3,800 for three and a half kilos of raisins and Rs 1,14,000 for 30 fasts.
The announcement states that it is necessary to pay the price of any one of these four items in Sadaqat al-Fitr; however, considering the needs of the poor, it is better to pay in cash. Furthermore, it is not a condition for the passing of a year on the property to pay Fitrana.
