ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Spanish government has implemented a simplified one-year Spain resident card system, which enables eligible Pakistanis to achieve permanent residency and citizenship within three years.

The organization will provide this service based on authentic documents without requiring individuals to apply for political protection. Dr. Zahoor Ahmed, the Pakistani ambassador to Spain, announced that eligible individuals will receive a one-year resident card for their initial entry into the country.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chaudhry Salik Hussain conducted a meeting about the Spanish resident card system, which confirmed the government plan to protect overseas Pakistanis through legal measures and support services.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs committed its entire resources to assist in finishing the Spanish resident card application process during the meeting. Pakistan Ambassador Dr. Zahoor Ahmed provided all attendees with an extensive explanation of the resident card application procedure and requirements for approval.

Eligibility & Time Period for the Spain Resident Card

The briefing showed that this policy does not apply to individuals who want to seek political asylum. The applicants must submit a character certificate together with all required documents.

He stated that eligible individuals will initially receive a resident card for one year, while after completing 7 to 8 years, the path toward permanent residency and citizenship could be facilitated.

The meeting decided to implement a new procedure that requires the National Police Bureau to issue one complete character certificate instead of multiple certificates to simplify the application process for candidates.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi ordered the verification procedure to become more efficient and faster because overseas Pakistanis require better assistance from this program.
