ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistanis will have uninterrupted power supply during Sehr and Iftar.
Federal Minister for Energy Awais Leghari has directed all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric, to ensure power supply during Sehr and Iftar in Ramzan.
The Power Division, in its standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued Tuesday, provided the directions for the Discos ahead of the holy month likely to start on Thursday.
All Discos have been directed to promptly address electricity consumer complaints and avoid unannounced load-shedding.
The Power Division also directed the Disco chief executive officers to establish control rooms to monitor operations.
Load management and Sehr-o-Iftar
Areas with high electricity losses will, however, continue to undertake anti-theft measures, while load management in these regions will be adjusted outside Sehr and Iftar hours.
The Power Division stated that the decision has been taken to prevent arrears and additional losses.
Discos have been directed to avoid load-shedding in high-loss zones during Sehr and Iftar, ensuring a continuous electricity supply for all consumers.
Ramzan is likely to commence on February 19 in Pakistan as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that astronomical parameters indicate a fair chance of sighting of moon on the evening of February 18 (29th Shaban 1447 AH).
Meanwhile, the central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Peshawar today (Wednesday) to sight the Ramzan moon. The PMD has forecast clear skies in the plains of KP, including Peshawar. For the province’s upper areas, it said the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy today.
