CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow parents to create separate accounts for their children, with limited features and strict privacy controls.
The company aims to increase children’s online safety and prevent unnecessary contact with unknown contacts.
According to Web Beta Info, this secondary account will provide parents with information to review their children’s activities, such as when a new contact is being added.
However, WhatsApp is also clarifying that all content will be protected under end-to-end encryption and will not be accessible to any unrelated person.
Under this feature, a QR code will have to be scanned to link the child’s account to the parent’s account. After this, the parent will have to create a 6-digit PIN, which will be used to prevent children from making unauthorized changes and will also be required in the setup of the child’s account.
The new feature will have several restrictions on the child’s account. Children will not be allowed to share content publicly, will not be able to access channels, and will not have the option to hide chats.
This WhatsApp feature is currently in testing stages; it will be released to all users in future updates.
WhatsApp Group Feature
Earlier, WhatsApp introduced new updates to further improve the group chat experience for its users.
These new features aim to make group conversations more organized, easier, and more effective.
According to the details, the new update provides the facility to give specific names or roles to group members, which will make it easier to understand the identity and responsibilities of individuals in large groups.
Through this feature, users will be able to clearly see the role of each member in the group.
In addition, users have also been given the facility to use written messages in the form of stickers, which will enable new ways of expression in group chats and make the conversation more interesting.
WhatsApp has also added a reminder feature for group events, through which advance notice and reminder of a meeting, event or important activity can be given to all members of the group.
According to the company, these new updates on WhatsApp will be provided to users in phases and are aimed at making group chats more organized and user-friendly
