NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): A newly-wed couple, staying in a private guest house, died of suffocation in the Kel Siri area of Neelum Valley on Saturday.
According to the details, the deceased, hailing from Karachi, were staying in the Shangri-La Guest House in Kel Seri.
District Disaster Management Authority Neelum District In-charge Muhammad Akhtar Ayub said the couple died due to the gas filling in the room during the night as they turned on the gas heater at night to keep the room warm.
The guesthouse administration opened the door after the couple did not come out of their room, he said.
The deceased were identified as Syed Muhammad Talha Ali and Dua Zahra Zaidi.
As soon as the information was received, the emergency department officials along with the medical team of the Pakistan Army and police reached the spot.
Rescue 1122 shifted the dead bodies to District Headquarters Hospital Athmuqam.
Assistant Commissioner Sharda Qadeer Mughal said that the postmortem will be conducted at DHQ Athmuqam.
