ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The first supermoon, Wolf Moon, of the year 2026 is set to illuminate skies on Saturday, January 3.
This full moon will appear unusually large in the sky and will be the final chapter in a run of consecutive supermoons that began last October.
According to scientists, a supermoon appears when the moon comes closer to the Earth than its normal distance. Due to this proximity, the moon can appear about 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.
According to experts, the full phase of the January moon will be at around 3 pm on Saturday, but it will also be visible prominently in the sky as a large and bright ball the night before.
This supermoon is also known by various names, including Wolf Moon, Cold Moon, and Hard Moon. Although these names are considered traditional, most of these names have become more popular in recent years.
