ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the passport issuance period of normal passports has been reduced from 21 days to 14 days, which will provide timely convenience to citizens.
In an important meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State Talal Chaudhry in Islamabad, major decisions have been taken for the convenience of citizens, in which emphasis has been placed on making the passport system faster, modern and transparent.
Significant improvements in the passport issuance procedure and service delivery were announced in the meeting.
It was also decided in the meeting that a completely cashless system will be implemented in passport offices to increase transparency and eliminate the role of agent mafia. Mohsin Naqvi directed that the cashless system be fully activated in all passport offices within 15 days.
The Federal Interior Minister further said that the system of delivering passports to the doorsteps of homes will also be made more effective so that the citizens do not have to go to offices. He also directed to finalize the system of issuing business passports soon.

It was also emphasized in the meeting that the establishment of a separate Passport Authority is very important for improving the passport system and facilitating the public. Mohsin Naqvi said that the system will be made more transparent and people-friendly through modern reforms.
The Federal Secretary of Home, DG Passport and Immigration, and other concerned officials also attended the meeting and gave a detailed briefing about the new system.
