ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has announced a traffic plan to handle the flow of vehicles so that people can celebrate the New Year safely and conveniently.
As reported, more than 350 traffic police personnel will be placed at major roads and influential points in the Islamabad area to control the flow of traffic and maintain security.
In this plan, entering heavy vehicles into the city will be strictly prohibited from 7:00 pm on December 31 until 3:00 am.
The traffic police also advised the public regarding the possibility of congestion on some main arteries: Islamabad Expressway, Jinnah Avenue, Srinagar Highway, Club Road, Murree Road, and Park Road.
There will also be increased traffic pressure on sensitive locations like Jinnah Avenue Flyover, Zero Point, Khanna, and PWD Underpass.
Authorities have constituted eight special enforcement squads to check one-wheeling, reckless driving, and hooliganism. They said car skating and dangerous driving would attract strict legal action.
They also asked parents to stop children from driving during the celebrations. The ITP will deploy special traffic contingents at recreational and entertainment spots and advise citizens to use alternative routes between 7:00 pm and 3:00 am.
The authorities further banned the parking of vehicles by the roadside to avoid congestion and ensure safety for the public.

The CTO, in a video message stated they would not tolerate one-wheeling under any circumstances and would pursue legal action against the person. He also warned against harassing households, being disorderly, and causing a public disturbance, as the law would consider such actions to be criminal acts.
