RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces, termed the establishment of the Defence Forces Headquarters a “historic and fundamental change” in Pakistan’s military structure.
He said the evolving and increasingly complex threat environment requires enhanced multi-domain operations conducted under a unified tri-services framework.
Field Marshal Munir said the new Defence Forces Headquarters is a necessary step toward achieving this transformation. “Each service will maintain its uniqueness and operational preparedness, while the Defence Forces Headquarters will ensure coordination and synchronization of all operations,” he stated.
Emphasizing the balance between unity and autonomy, he clarified that while the high command will operate under a unified structure, the Army, Navy, and Air Force will continue to retain their internal autonomy and organizational identity.
Issuing a message to India, the Field Marshal warned against “any self-deception or false assumptions,” adding that Pakistan’s response in the event of aggression would be “even swifter and more severe” than before.
He also addressed cross-border security concerns, stating that a clear message had been delivered to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan: they must choose between supporting Fitna Al-Khawarij or maintaining relations with Pakistan.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the Field Marshal stressed that while the country seeks stability, it will not allow any violation of its sovereignty or territorial integrity. “Our resolve will not be tested,” he said firmly.
Concluding his remarks, he declared: “Let all know that the concept of Pakistan is invincible, protected by faith-filled warriors and the firm resolve of a united nation.”
