RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): During the hearing of the GHQ attack case in the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court, the court issued an important decision and ordered the confiscation of immovable properties of 18 accused, including Omar Ayub and Shibli Faraz.
This decision was given due to the absence of all the accused named in the case, while the court clarified that the current order is part of the proceedings as per the law, and all the steps will be completed by the relevant revenue officers.
During the hearing, the court was told that the 18 people whose properties have been ordered to be confiscated include Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Kanwal Shozab, Sheikh Rashid, and Zartaj Gul.
Others include Muhammad Ahmed Chatta, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Mehar Javed, Rai Murtaza, Ashraf Sohna, Chaudhry Asif, and Shakeel Niazi.
The court clarified in the order that all the accused have already been declared absconders; therefore, the confiscation process has become necessary in their absence.
Anti-terrorism court judge Amjad Ali Shah, while issuing orders, remarked that if the accused do not surrender, the seized property will be auctioned, and the proceeds from the auction will be deposited in the national treasury.
The court further directed that all concerned revenue officers should immediately complete the property seizure process, while notices have also been issued to the guarantors.
The court, in its written order, emphasized that this action related to the GHQ Gate attack case should be carried out with complete transparency under the law.
According to the court, this stage has become inevitable due to the absence of the accused, and the purpose of the action is to fulfill the requirements of the law. The funds collected during this time will directly become part of the national treasury, in which regard the court has directed all institutions to provide full cooperation.
This important judicial development has further advanced the proceedings of the case, while the court has made it clear that in case the accused do not surrender, the legal process will continue in full and the proceedings will be maintained till the auction of the properties.
