ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) have started Warrior-IX, the ninth round of their annual counter-terrorism exercise, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The latest edition began on 1 December 2025 and aims to boost joint capacity for modern counter-terror operations.
The exercise focuses on improving coordination, sharpening professional skills, and sharing operational experience. It also highlights the depth of Pakistan–China defence ties, built on trust, strategic cooperation, and a shared goal of regional stability.
Senior officers from both sides attended the opening ceremony at the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) in Pabbi.
The attendees included the Mangla Corps Commander and Major General Bian Xiaoming, Deputy Chief of Staff of the PLA’s Western Theatre Command. Their participation shows the importance both countries place on continued security collaboration.
Warrior-IX once again reflects the strong Pakistan–China defence partnership and their common resolve to meet emerging security challenges.
China’s Defence Ministry also confirmed the start of the exercise a day earlier, saying troops from the PLA Western Theatre Command and the Pakistan Army will take part in the joint counter-terrorism drills in Pakistan.
