HAVELI (Kashmir English): A quack running an illegal clinic and endangering public lives was arrested in Khursheedabad Tehsil of Haveli District on Wednesday.

Acting on the special directives of the District Magistrate, a joint team comprising Drug Inspector Mazhar Iqbal, the Assistant Commissioner, and the local police conducted a raid at Bismillah Medical Store and apprehended Munir Ahmed, who was falsely posing as a qualified doctor.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had been running a clinic in Khursheedabad for the past four months and had also worked as a fake doctor in different areas of District Bagh earlier.

Authorities revealed that Munir Ahmed does not possess any medical degree or registration but had been deceiving the public by pretending to be an MBBS doctor.

Upon arrest, the accused confessed that he had only completed a one-year OT technician course and later obtained a fake MBBS degree from Nishtar Medical College, Multan, in 1996. Since then, he admitted, he had been practicing as a fake doctor across various medical setups in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir without ever being caught.

He further revealed that he had been living in a private hospital in Malot, District Bagh, for the past seven years, and had been providing healthcare in Khursheedabad for the last one and a half years.

According to the health department officials, the illegal clinic was sealed, banned medicines were confiscated, and the accused was handed over to the police for further investigation.

Officials said that such operations will continue to ensure that no unqualified person is allowed to risk human lives under the guise of medical practice.
