ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan has expressed strong reservations over the India-Afghanistan joint statement issued after the visit of Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi to India.

Pakistan also summoned Afghan ambassador to the Foreign Office in Islamabad and lodged a formal protest.

According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Pakistan termed the joint statement “provocative and irresponsible” and said that the attempt in the declaration to portray Jammu and Kashmir as part of India is a clear violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Sacrifices of Kashmiri people

The spokesperson further added that the declaration completely ignored the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and adopted a misleading narrative on the issue of terrorism.

According to the Foreign Office, declaring terrorism as an internal problem of Pakistan is contrary to facts because terrorists belonging to Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan are carrying out operations against Pakistan from Afghanistan.

The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan has repeatedly presented concrete evidence of this terrorism to Afghan authorities.

The spokesperson said that Pakistan has hosted more than 400,000 Afghan citizens over the past 40 years, but now it is time for illegally residing Afghan citizens to return to their homeland.

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan is still issuing medical and educational visas to Afghan citizens on humanitarian grounds and will continue humanitarian cooperation under Islamic brotherhood.
