PPP AJK MLAs arrive in Karachi for crucial meeting

KARACHI (Kashmir English): At least 17 members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Azad Kashmir have arrived at Karachi Airport on Friday to attend the crucial party meeting scheduled at Bilawal House.

The meeting will be chaired by the In-charge of the party’s Azad Jammu and Kashmir affairs. It will be attended by former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former Federal Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, and senior PPP leader Chaudhry Riaz.

According to party sources, former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas is also expected to reach Karachi in a while to participate in the discussions.

Earlier, Kashmir Digital learned that Faryal Talpur has convened an important meeting of the party’s Azad Kashmir parliamentary party on October 10, and all party MLAs have been instructed to ensure their presence.

According to party sources, the meeting is expected to finalize the strategy for the formation of a new government in Azad Kashmir in light of the prevailing political situation.

Sources further revealed that consultations will also be held on the names of potential candidates for the office of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

The final decision and formal announcement are expected to be made after consultation with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
