ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Political maneuvering continues in Azad Kashmir ahead of general elections with the PML-N entering into an alliance with JUI-Kashmir.
An electoral alliance has been formed between All Jammu and Kashmir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Muslim League-N, under which both parties have, in principle, decided to jointly contest the elections. On this occasion, a 10-point agenda was also agreed upon.
The meeting was held at Punjab House Islamabad, attended by Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam and Prime Minister’s Advisor for Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah.
The meeting was attended by President of Muslim League-N Azad Kashmir Shah Ghulam Qadir, Central Information Secretary Mushtaq Minhas, Central Joint Secretary Raja Farhan Azam, and other leaders.
From All Jammu and Kashmir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Amir Maulana Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, General Secretary Basharat Hussain Naveed, and Finance Secretary Mufti Muhammad Akhtar attended the meeting.
PML-N parliamentary board members
In addition, members of the Muslim League-N parliamentary board Chaudhry Abid Raza, Pervaiz Rashid, Birjees Tahir, Anusha Rahman, and Captain (R) Safdar also participated in the meeting.
Both parties expressed their commitment to work together for the protection and promotion of Islamic values, traditions, and public interests in Azad Kashmir.
It is worth noting that All Jammu and Kashmir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam had supported Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the last elections, in return for which Pir Mazhar Saeed was made a member of the assembly on the Ulema and Mashaikh seat and also served as Information Minister.
