BHIMBER (Kashmir English): On the directions of the Supreme Court, the AJK Food Authority conducted raids, took action against those selling substandard ice cream, fined several, and sealed the shops.

Under the supervision of Deputy Director Ijaz Ahmed Qamar and District Food Controller Raja Mahmood, a team of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Bhimber today conducted a detailed inspection of centers manufacturing, storing, and selling ice cream in Bhimber Bazaar Market.
The team conducted a detailed inspection of Food Handling Practices, Personal Hygiene, Cold Chain Management, Storage Temperature Monitoring, Labeling & Traceability, Product Safety Parameters, and reviewed their compliance under AJK Pure Food Regulations 2019 in ice cream units, warehouses, and retail points.
During the inspection, several non-compliance issues related to cleanliness, temperature control, labeling, and storage were found, for which Improvement Notices were issued on the spot.
The concerned Food Business Operators (FBOs) were directed to complete the corrective measures within the stipulated time, and fines were also imposed.
Additionally, samples of ice cream and frozen products were sealed on the spot and sent for external laboratory analysis to check their microbiological and chemical quality parameters.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Food Authority Bhimber team said that the aim of this campaign is to ensure the provision of quality, safe, and healthy food to the public. The authority will continue regular monitoring, inspections, and enforcement actions in the future as well.
