ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ministers, who were initially elected members AJK assembly on any of the 12 refugee seats, are facing pressure to resign as ministers – a precondition agreed between the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and the federal government.
According to details, ministers Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and Dewan Ali Chughtai have been summoned to Islamabad by the concerned so that they could be convinced for resignations.
The resignation of migrant ministers might be the first step towards implementing the agreements reached between the JAAC and the federal government.
However, sources said the migrant ministers were not willing to leave the cabinet.
After the migrant ministers refused to resign, a strange situation has arisen. The migrant ministers have been camping in Jammu and Kashmir House.
According to sources, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq had advised the ministers to resign, which the ministers did not agree to.
AJK ministers
Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq summoned Minister of Local Government Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and Minister of Education Dewan Ali Chughtai to Islamabad to persuade them to resign.
According to sources, if the migrant ministers do not resign, the Prime Minister Azad Kashmir will dissolve the cabinet and form a new one. The situation is expected to become clear in a day or two.
