Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to win inaugural Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship

KULHUDHUFFUSHI (Kashmir English): In a historic milestone, Pakistan has won the inaugural Commonwealth Beach Handball Championship by defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in the final match in the Maldives.

Pakistan clinched the title with an unbeaten record of seven wins. In the final, Green Shirts claimed the first two sets by 26–18 and 28–18.

Earlier on Sunday, the Pakistan team had booked their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh in a one-sided semi-final. They beat Bangladesh 22-17 and 27-5.

Pakistan started their tournament campaign with a commanding 2-0 victory over arch-rivals India before inflicting an equally dominant victory over Sri Lanka.

The team continued its winning streak by defeating the Maldives, South Africa, and Bangladesh in the group stage.
