ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced relief packages for flood-affected people of Pakistan.
While announcing a relief package for the flood-affected people, has said that electricity bills will be waived in the flood-affected areas.
He said that the recent heavy rains and floods have caused great destruction, and houses and livestock have also suffered great damage. The Prime Minister said that now household electricity consumers will not pay the August bills.
The Prime Minister added that we are well aware of the problems of the flood victims. In difficult times, the federal government will pay the electricity bills itself.
This is not a favor to the flood victims, but their right. Those flood victims who have paid the August bill will be refunded.
He said that the loss of agricultural, commercial, and industrial consumers in the affected areas is being estimated. The collection of electricity bills of agricultural, commercial, and industrial consumers is being postponed.
Instructions have been issued to the electricity distribution companies regarding the bills. The federal government will pay the electricity bills in the flood-affected areas from its own resources as part of the relief packages.
The Prime Minister further said that we have made a small effort that will reduce the problems of the flood victims. We are determined to completely restore the flood-affected areas and will not rest until the houses of every flood-affected person are rebuilt.
