SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth languishing in different jails of India and Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar urged immediate release of Hurriyat leaders, including, APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Zaffar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Umar Adil Dar, Abdul Ahad Parra, Firdous Ahmed Shah, Saleem Nanaji and Muhammad Yasin Butt.
He said that the Indian BJP government was prolonging the illegal detentions of Kashmiri political prisoners who had been put behind bars for peacefully struggling for the political resolution of the Kashmir dispute as guaranteed by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The APHC statement said it is highly unfortunate that the Indian BJP government has closed all peaceful means to resolve the long-pending Kashmir dispute by resorting to the worst kind of state terrorism and Hindutva agenda by its forces and converting the occupied territory into a military garrison.
The APHC, completely rejecting the propaganda being spread by the Indian authorities, said the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute cannot be subdued through brutal repression.
Release all Kashmiri political prisoners
He lamented that the right to self-determination, promised to the people of Kashmir had not been fulfilled despite the passage of over seven decades and urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres to mount pressure on India to release all Kashmiri political prisoners and settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the World Body’s resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
