ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): TikToker Samiya Hijab and the suspect Hassan Zahid have agreed to resolve the matter out of the court, according to media reports.

While Zahid’s attorneys withdrew their bail petitions from the magistrate court, alleging jurisdiction, and filed new ones at the district and sessions court in Islamabad, the complainant Hijab did not show up for today’s hearing.

Moreover, the hearing on the bail applications has been adjourned until September 15 as the court has issued notices to the parties on the bail applications.

Reports say that a reconciliation has been reached between Samia Hijab and Hassan Zahid. Samia Hijab will record an affidavit and statement in court.

The reconciliation agreement could not be submitted due to the lack of a formal hearing on the bail applications today.

TikToker Samiya Hijab case background

TikToker Samiya Hijab has said that she was harassed and kidnapped and sought protection from the Islamabad police.

In a video shared on her Instagram, she said that Hasan Zahid, a resident of Lahore, threatened her after she rejected his marriage proposal.

Hijab said that she has filed a complaint at Shalimar Police Station against the accused, who followed her for the past three months with repeated gifts before trying to forcibly abduct her.

She added that on August 31 at around 6:30 pm, the man asked her to accompany him and, upon her refusal, he pushed her into a car in an attempt to kidnap her.

She also shared CCTV footage on social media, showing a suspect, wearing a white Shalwar Qameez, trying to forcibly push her into his car.

Samiya added that the Islamabad police visited her residence and assured her of protection and the arrest of the culprit.

After the video went viral on social media platforms, Islamabad police arrested a man on Monday for allegedly harassing and trying to kidnap social media influencer Samiya Hijab.

The action was taken upon her complaint and video statement, according to a police spokesperson’s statement.

A case was lodged at her complaint in the capital’s Shalimar Police Station under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 365 (Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 392 (punishment for robbery), 500 (punishment for defamation), 509 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Samiya expressed gratitude to the Islamabad police in a second video posted on her Instagram account and added that the suspect had intimidated her into withdrawing her complaint.
