MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority has seized 2000kgs of substandard dairy cream in a major operation at Mangla entry point in Mirpur district on Sunday.
The Food Authority team, acting on the directives of the Supreme Court of Azad Kashmir conducted an operation at the Mangla entry point, seizing 2000 kg of substandard, spoiled, foul-smelling, and unregistered dairy cream (malai) and 15 liters of substandard and spoiled milk, which were destroyed on the spot.
The operation was led by District Food Controller Mirpur Syed Adnan Ali Naqvi. A fine of Rs80,000 was imposed as the estimated value of the destroyed dairy products was over Rs2 million.
The dairy cream and milk were being illegally transported from Pakistan to Mirpur district in Azad Kashmir, despite the ban.

The operation was carried out in the presence of Food Technologist Muhammad Jalil, Assistant Food Safety officers Asif Riaz, Shahryar Khan, and the police.
District Food Controller Mirpur Syed Adnan Naqvi, while speaking to the media on the occasion, said that providing citizens with quality and safe food is their top priority.
He said no one will be allowed to supply substandard food items to citizens.
