Rawalakot: (Kashmir Digital): Student organizations have demanded the immediate release of youths arrested in connection with the August 13 incident from Rawalakot and the closure of cases registered against them.
NSF leader Mohsin Aziz, PSF leader Bilal, JKPSF’s Khawaja Hussam, JKNSF’s Osama Nawaz, along with dozens of students from the University of Poonch, Postgraduate College, and other private and government educational institutions, addressed a press conference at Ghazi Millat Press Club, Rawalakot, today.
The students have threatened to launch a full-scale movement, including a protest march and closure of educational institutions, if their demands are not met.
They demand the unconditional release of the arrested youths and that terrorism charges against the students be dropped. The students claim that the arrests are an act of retaliation for raising their voice against state incompetence.
Addressing the presser, the student leaders allege that the administration has falsely accused the youths, with some of those named in the FIR not even present at the scene. They question the administration’s claims, asking for evidence of vehicles being burned, which has not been shown on social media.
The students warned of a full-scale movement against the injustice, in which “a full-scale plan of action will be prepared after consulting various political parties, Anjuman Tajran, and other organizations.”
They demanded the release of the arrested students and the termination of the cases against them. “In case it’s done, we will stage a protest on August 26.”
On this occasion, the student leader demanded that the then government, administration, and other relevant institutions unconditionally release the arrested persons and drop the cases filed against them so that this mistreatment of students could be ended.
