ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA) has said that 3,800 investors and companies—both local and global—have shown interest in establishing EV charging infrastructure across Pakistan.

According to Managing Director of NEECA, Dr Moazaam, the authority has so far issued licences for 71 charging stations. Of these, he said, 30 to 35 EV stations are already operational and have formally applied for registration. He further disclosed that 128 more applications are currently under process.

He said that active exchange of information is underway with a number of international and local firms adding some companies are in the final stage of completing documentation.

Electricity tariff for for EV charging stations

He attributed the hike in investor interest to a recent government decision to reduce the electricity tariff specifically for EV charging stations.

He believed that the move would pave the way for a faster infrastructure development and easing the shift to electric mobility in the country.

To make it clearer, the NEECA chief said that licences are being issued within 15 days once companies complete their required documentation adding that the streamlined process is part of the government’s broader plan to facilitate green investments.
