MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government employees’ organizations have formed the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA), a non-political, representative platform aimed at promoting the welfare and rights of state employees.
The inaugural meeting of AGEGA AJK was held at the Chief Office Electricity Department and was attended by representatives from 16 employees’ organizations.
The meeting was hosted by the former chairman of APCA, Muhammad Safir Qureshi, and was chaired by the President of the Non-Journal Organization of Azad Kashmir, Salik Rashid Abbasi.
A joint resolution was approved unanimously to fight for the overall welfare of the state, acceptance of legitimate demands, institutional reforms, and a fair service structure.
AGEGA expressed its determination to play every possible role in empowering the voice of state employees, highlighting their problems at the highest level and effectively involving them in the policy-making process.
The meeting also stressed that AGEGA will work towards establishing a fair service structure, salaries, pensions, incentives, and other welfare issues for government employees.
“The alliance will act as a shield to protect employee rights and raise its voice against injustice,” the attendees maintained.
Furthermore, AGEGA has demanded the immediate restoration of the 30 per cent disparity reduction allowance, failing which government employees may resort to protests and leave their posts.
The alliance has warned that the entire responsibility for any such action will rest with the government.
An oath-taking ceremony was also held, where Syed Waqas Ali Gilani, Sheikh Tahir Waseem, Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Salim Awan, Ghulam Sarwar Lone, Saeed Awan, and others participated in the oath-taking ceremony.
