MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, has said that planting trees is an ongoing charity, and the main reason for environmental changes is the indiscriminate cutting of trees and the tendency not to plant trees individually or collectively.
He said this while inaugurating the monsoon tree planting campaign at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office, Islamgarh on Saturday. On this occasion, he appealed to the citizens to show their national responsibility and plant at least one tree in the current tree planting season.
He noted that there is a need to plant as many trees as possible in homes, offices and open spaces.
Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, added that the biggest reason for environmental changes is indiscriminate cutting of trees. We have to think today so that future generations can be saved from the environmental crisis.
If tree planting is not taken seriously, future generations will suffer its losses, he said while adding that Every person has to realise their responsibility to plant trees in the current season.
The Commissioner Mirpur Division further said that a coordinated plan has been prepared for tree plantation across the division, in which the participation of the Forest Department and other institutions as well as various sections of civil society has been ensured.
The public and institutions will be provided with free trees and it will be their responsibility to plant these trees at suitable locations and also protect them.
