MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A major teachers protest is set to take place in Muzaffarabad on Monday, July 14, as schoolteachers across Azad Kashmir express anger over the government’s failure to deliver on its promise of upgradation.
The teachers protest is being organized by the Azad Kashmir School Teachers’ Organization, whose members say they have waited long enough for their rightful demands to be fulfilled. Their key issue is the complete scale upgradation of their positions, a promise made earlier by Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq.
They further added that it is extremely disappointing that the government has continuously ignored the legitimate and long-standing demand of the AJK School Teachers’ Organization regarding complete scale upgradation. “Teachers are the builders of the nation, and solving their issues should be the government’s top priority,” they emphasized.
The teachers protest is being led by Sardar Tasif Shaheen, the central president of the organization. He has urged all teachers across Azad Kashmir to join the demonstration and leave aside other commitments for this cause. “Our unity is our strength,” he stated. “We must show the government that we will not remain silent anymore.”
According to the teachers, they have faced these problems for years, and despite repeated assurances, no solid action has been taken. Now, their patience has run out.
He further stated that their numbers and unity are their true strength, and only through this collective force can they compel the government to accept their rightful demands. “Let us show our unity and determination on July 14, 2025, in Muzaffarabad and force the government to resolve our issues,” he concluded.
The protest is expected to gather hundreds of teachers from different districts. Organizers are hopeful that this teachers protest will pressure the government into finally addressing their demands.
Earlier, similar demands were raised but went unanswered. Now, the teachers protest on July 14 is seen as a turning point. “We will prove through this protest that we stand together. This is our fight for what we deserve,” Shaheen added.
