ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Processions and majalis in connection with the 9th Muharram were concluded peacefully on Saturday across Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir, to pay homage to Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions for their sacrifice in Karbala.
In total, a staggering 2,763 processions and 7,598 majalis were held across the country, with 181 majalis and 42 processions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), state-run APP reported.
Other than that, 61 majalis and 17 processions were held in the federal capital; 3,805 majalis and 1,677 processions in Punjab; 1,207 majalis and 644 processions in Sindh; 939 majalis and 261 processions in KP; 115 majalis and 11 processions in Balochistan; and 1,290 majalis and 111 processions in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Local authorities implemented stringent security measures across the country to ensure peace and order during these observances, with law enforcement agencies remaining on high alert.
