LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistani women will kickstart their ICC Women’s World Cup campaign against Bangladesh on October 2 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where they will play all their remaining matches even beyond group stage.
This arrangement is in line with the hybrid model announced by the ICC last year.
The high-voltage clash with arch-rivals India is scheduled for October 5.
According to the schedule for the ICC Women’s World Cup issued by International Cricket Council (ICC), the eight-team tournament will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2.
Led by all-rounder Fatima Sana, Pakistani women remained unbeaten throughout the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier.
Pakistan will face off defending champions Australia on October 8 and 2017 champions England on October 15.
The national team will then face New Zealand on October 18, South Africa on October 21, and co-hosts Sri Lanka on October 24 to conclude their round-robin stage.
If Pakistan secure a semi-final place, they will play the knockout match on October 29 in Colombo. The final, slated for November 2, will also be hosted by Sri Lankan capital Colombo should Pakistan qualify.
However, if the Pakistan team does not advance beyond the group stage, the semi-final and final will be held in Guwahati and Bengaluru in India, respectively.
As per the ICC, all participating teams will feature in two warm-up games beginning September 24.
